JayatriRane

A curious problem solver and strategic thinker- Hi I am Jayatri Rane and this is my story.

From leading grassroots sustainability projects in India to analyzing market trends for global start-ups, my journey has been driven by one thing: a deep desire to understand how things work. With a foundation in Marketing and International Business, and now pursuing advanced studies in Business Analysis, I’ve built experience across market research, sales, strategy, and customer experience.

Every challenge I take on, whether it's simplifying complex data, optimizing a process, or designing customer-centric solutions, helps me grow not just as a professional, but as a lifelong learner.

This portfolio is a glimpse into that journey — the projects I’ve loved, the insights I’ve gained, and the impact I hope to create.

My Projects

Fast Fashion & Environmental Impact | Independent Research Project

This primary research project explored the environmental and health impacts of the fast fashion industry, with a focus on consumer behavior, industrial dyes, and sustainability awareness among Indian youth. I co-led a structured survey of 100+ participants (ages 18–30), analyzing trends in online shopping, thrifting habits, and awareness of textile waste.

The paper proposes government-supported initiatives for eco-friendly dyes, transparency in labeling, and stronger regulatory frameworks to balance economic growth with environmental responsibility.

Helped uncover under-researched health risks of textile dye exposure and sparked critical discourse on shifting toward sustainable fashion in emerging markets.

Influence in the Feed | Social Media vs. TV Marketing Research

This research project explored how influencer-driven marketing on platforms like Instagram and YouTube compares with traditional TV advertising in shaping youth consumer behavior in India.

My role included designing the survey, analyzing quantitative and qualitative responses, and comparing primary data with market reports and academic literature. I focused on interpreting digital behavior patterns and mapping user journeys across social touchpoints.

This project strengthened my skills in consumer behavior research, data analysis, and digital marketing strategy especially in the context of evolving media platforms.

Wabi Sabi Café Website | Digital Branding & UX Design Project

I designed and launched a full website for Wabi Sabi, a vegetarian lifestyle café tucked away in Southern Avenue, Kolkata. Inspired by the café’s namesake philosophy — finding beauty in imperfection. The site captures its warm, artisanal vibe through thoughtful design, clean architecture, and intuitive navigation.

This project wasn’t just about making something pretty. It involved defining audience segments, shaping content flow, and crafting a seamless booking and browsing experience using Wix. From color psychology to layout flow, every decision aimed to reflect the café’s values and enhance user engagement.

FEVICOL- REBRANDING

As part of a collaborative branding project, I helped reimagine Fevicol’s iconic advertising identity by analyzing decades of campaigns and proposing a refreshed narrative: #BondZindagiKa (“The Bond of Life”).

We assessed consumer sentiment, brand recall metrics, and competitor positioning to build a PR strategy that spoke to Gen Z and millennial audiences. I contributed to the storytelling pivot, helped develop a mock performance analysis, and edited a refreshed ad concept to emphasize emotional storytelling, real-life bonds, and social shareability.

Research Conference

Got selected for presentation at the 2023 SIMS Research Conference (Top 5% of submissions), this paper explored the relationship between trade openness and health outcomes in India. Uncovering a surprising inverse correlation between anemia prevalence and GDP growth across select states.

FUN FACT:

All the photos on this site were taken by me. I’m not a professional photographer, just someone who loves capturing everyday moments and small details. That same curiosity and eye for nuance shows up in my work too, whether I’m designing better user flows, analyzing research, or creating clear, thoughtful communication. Turns out, paying attention matters whether it’s to lighting or to people.

Outside of work, my side quests include learning video editing (with a healthy dose of YouTube tutorials), exploring new tech just for fun, and traveling on a student budget. I’m also building a low-effort cookbook for broke international Indian students who miss the taste of home but don’t know where to begin myself included. No chef hat here, just vibes, masala, and Google.
